In the first match of the Ashes and ICC World Test Championship cricket series being held at Edgbaston Stadium, Birmingham, Australia batting in the 2nd innings with a target of 281 runs set by England, lost 3 wickets and got 107 runs at the end of the 4th day.
Australia needs 174 more runs to win by 7 wickets in the second innings.
The final day of the tournament on Tuesday (20) is expected to be a thrilling match as both teams will try hard for victory.
Openers David Warner and Usman Khawaja batted calmly and shared 61 runs to get Australia off to a flying start in the second innings.
But, David Warner, Marnus Lapuzsan and Steven Smith lost the game by 28 runs and Australia was in trouble.
However, Usman Khawaja and keeper Scott Boland batted with composure to prevent further wickets from falling and ended the 4th day.
Resuming their second innings from 28 for 2 on the 4th day of the tournament on Monday (19) morning, England scored 273 runs with the help of their middle-order batsmen.
Joe Root, Harry Brook, captain Ben Stokes and Ollie Robinson scored more than 25 runs.
