Director of Hambantota General Hospital Dr. Sunaga Ubesekera said that a tumor weighing about ten kilograms has been removed from the stomach of a woman in a surgery performed today at Hambantota General Hospital.

The tumor was removed from the cervix during a surgical operation by a team led by Dr. Samantha Samarawickrama, Obstetrician, Hambantota General Hospital.

Specialist Samantha Samarawickrama said that a 49-year-old woman came to see him last Thursday.

He also said that there is some weight in his stomach and he is having difficulty in breathing.

She was immediately admitted to the Hambantota General Hospital and after undergoing the necessary scan tests, it was revealed that there was a tumor in the uterus, and this surgery was carried out on (19th) at the Hambantota General Hospital.

Specialist doctor Samantha Samarawickrama said that the patient is fine.    

Meanwhile, it is noteworthy that a group of doctors created a Guinness World Record by removing the longest and largest stone near the kidney of a person during a surgery performed at the Colombo Military Hospital on June 1st.
