A kilogram of chicken meat can be sold for 900 rupees and an egg for 35 rupees, said the president of the All Sri Lankan Egg Trade Association, Anton Nishantha Appuhami.
He mentioned this while participating in a media conference held in Colombo and also pointed out that the producers are supplying eggs and chicken meat to the market with high profits.
In this case, Commerce Minister Nalin Fernando has said that discussions have been held with relevant parties to control the increasing price of chicken meat.
He also mentioned that a program has been started to provide chicken chicks nationwide to increase egg production.
